Washington Co. Youth Fair 2012...

Picture
Had another great year with the youth fair! Sarah's enteries did great...we couldn't be more proud of her! Her SSB Raney's Blackjack, got Best in Show! Below are her other placements:
Standard Black Cochin "Jade" -Blue
Blue Silkie hen "Thelma Harper" - Red
White Silkie hen "Snowball" - Red
Large grade eggs - "Red"
Seemed to be more poultry and rabbit enteries this year! *yeah* It is so nice to see young people getting more invovled!

CAE herd test results are in....

We are happy to announce that our Nigerian Dwarf does tested NEGATIVE for CAE (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis) February 2012!A huge "Thank you" to Cristi Karr with Ebony Farms for showing/teaching me to pull blood.  Be sure to visit Ebony Farms to see Cristi's beautiful Nubians!

Silkie Bantam eggs for sale...chicks are hatching!

Picture
We currently have four Silkie chicks...3 white and 1 blue that are 6 wks old!!! We also have 9 newly hatched Silkie chicks in buff, splash, white and blue! Sooo cute!!! Our two Cochin hens setting on another batch of Silkie eggs and some Buff Orpington eggs! Silkie's are $6 each.

Thought I would update photos of our chickens...mainly the Silkies and Cochins...I absolutely ADORE these chickens...they make wonderful pets and/or 4H projects for children. They are VERY friendly (esp. Silkie Bantams) when raised from a chick. Ours follow us around like puppies and the Silkie rooster's crow is not too loud. :) **please note the pictures of the Silkies below were taken when they were young/juveniles.**
